Break the fever with these free-entry events

June 25, 2019

The saying goes that the best things in life are free (entry). Plus, everyone needs a break from those winter blues, regardless of what’s in the Winter Fun Budget. That’s why we’ve got a stack of free-entry events on the Cabin Fever program. You can watch the best baristas in WA battle it out for the Latte Art Crown, or listen to free live music at Settlers Tavern, Eagle Bay Brewing Co and the Food Truck Frenzy.

Read on for our list of free-entry events, plus a few tickets under $40 too.

Latte Art Smackdown

Watch the best baristas in the South West and beyond go head to head in a latte art battle as exhilarating as a double shot espresso. Finger food will be provided, while wine, beer, and of course, coffee from Yahava will be available for purchase. Get ready for an action packed evening, with tutorials on cupping differing coffee and a roasting demo too.

Backyard Brewing Tournament Awards

The iconic home brewing battle is back! Backyard brewers from around WA have been busy concocting the perfect brew, which will be judged at the tournament awards during Cabin Fever. Come down and join in the fun. This is a free event in celebration of all things beer so get down to Brewhouse and mingle with the best brewing minds, while sampling the finest beers in the region.

Nature’s Wonderland Soiree at Jahroc Galleries

Take in live music, fine wine and exquisite art to celebrate the launch of a new exhibition “On Location”. Joe Webster is an International plein air artist in residence who is documenting his adventures in Margaret River, painting on location using graffiti and water-based media that interact with the atmosphere. Local mixed media artist Stu McMillan is showcasing energetic sculptures exploring natural elements of the Southwest.

Eagle Bay Sunday Sesh

Sundays down south are for cosy fires, wood-fired pizza, vino and good beer made by locals who care about crafting an epic brew. Tap in for live music by south west legends and everything you’d expect from a lazy winter afternoon, warmed by good vibes, good humans and tasty brews worth a Sunday with your comrades.

Fondue by the Fire

Snuggle up for our third year of winter done right, with delectable wines and cheese fondue that’ll melt your heart. Bunker down by a roaring fire, on the couch or by a wine barrel and indulge in two of the best gifts to days Down South – cheese by our heroes, Cambray Sheep Cheese and wine by the legends at Howard Park.

Oh, and love cheese? Check out our blog about cheese events this Cabin Fever!

Food Truck Frenzy

All your favourite food vans roll into town for a special edition of the Margaret River Night Markets. Rug up and taste the best sweet and savoury fare on wheels. We’ll keep it warm and cosy, with an undercover space set up just for the night, plus a pop-up bar for the 18 pluses, hosted by our mates at the Beer Float. Just bring ID so we know you’re old (enough).

Settlers Tavern Carpark Collective

The grand finale showdown spectacular of Cabin Fever is a stellar medley of live music, brews, wine and quality nosh, plus games for the kids – all beneath a massive marquee in the Settlers’ carpark. Get toasty by open fire pits, feast on smoked BBQ ribs and drop moves like the dance legend you are. There’ll be non-stop WA bands, beats and brews for folk of all ages (except the brews, they’re for 18 plussers).

Have a little bit of dosh to play with? Here's how to do Cabin Fever with less than $50...

Love chocolate? The Chocolate and Wine Tasting Masterclass at Providore costs just $40 and includes at take-home bottle of liqueur! Live music lovers can head to Blazing Brews or The River Lock-in for just $15 per ticket, while shiraz fiends can do a museum tasting of the good stuff for $45 at Cape Grace Wines. Or sample your way through a beer paddle of some one-off barrel aged brews at the Brewer's Block Party. Options, options.
