Late to the party and haven’t organised what you’re doing for Cabin Fever yet? Never fear! While many things have sold out, there’s still plenty of events that cater to procrastinators like you… but you may want to get a wriggle on!
Unique tasting experiences
Get Porty– You’ll get to taste a range of ports, fortifieds, sherries and Madeira from around the world and closer to home, and learn about each style and how they pair with certain foods. Each tasting showcases the myriad flavours these styles of wine offer alongside a few gourmet treats that pair just right. Spot prizes too. Don’t miss out!
The Spice is Right– Ever wondered what wine will pair best with your spicy curry? Well now you can become a pro at matching wine and spice at The Spice is Right. You’ll get to taste a range of raw spice to see how it changes your wine experience (and vice versa), then dig into 4 x kashmiri dishes prepared by the Spice Mistress herself, matched to wines by Amato Vino, with winemaker Brad Wehr on hand as well to help you explore this world of flavour.
Chocolate and Wine Tasting Masterclass – Do we need to say more? There’s chocolate. And wine. Together. For those who need more prompting, you’ll find out some pretty tasty tips (by way of your tastebuds) like: salted caramel chocolate goes really well with Sauvignon Blanc. Oh and you get to take a bottle of Sambarino chocolate liqueur home with you too.
Black Glass Tasting– An incredible blind tasting experience that removes the sense of sight from your ability to taste wine (which actually makes a huge difference). You’ll get to taste a series of wines side by side, from the same wine from different vintages to the same wine from different countries. You may not even be able to tell if it’s a red or white wine (really!). Paired with fresh local finger food and led by Cape Mentelle’s knowledgeable winemaker, this will be a truly sensory wine experience.
Game On– Your chance to dine with two-old friends Aaron Carr (Yarri) and Matt Stone (Oakridge) who happen to be incredible chefs, focussing on the rich, earthy flavours of game meats. Also joined by Snake and Herring’s Tony Davis and Oakridge Estate’s Dave Bicknell (both winemakers) who will be sharing some of their delicious wines to pair with your meal. A super special event that you don’t want to miss. (Friday Dinner and Sunday Lunch available)
Arimia x Fervor Pop-Up- Chef Evan Hayter (Arimia) and Paul Iskov (Fervor) join forces for a unique pop-up restaurant set in the heart of the Margaret River township at cosy Golden Café. The space will be transformed into an incredible, intimate dining experience where you’ll sample an array of unique produce and beverages throughout the evening. Think locally raised pork and straight-from-the farm organic veggies, along with local marron, kangaroo and whiting. Jindong macadamia nut, wattleseed shoyu, sandalwood nuts and bloodroot will also feature on the menu. Paired drinks by Arimia, LAS Vino, Heretic, Beer Farm and Rocky Ridge (plus a few surprises). For 5-nights only during Cabin Fever.
Smoke and Fire - Does wood-grilled king prawn, smoked beef brisket or smoked banana pie with honkey nut ice-cream sound good to you? Don’t miss this epic 5-course BBQ feast at Wise Winery Restaurant featuring the freshest local produce. You’ll even get a quick crash-course in smoking and fire management for your own endeavours.
Game On: Yep, Game On is happening twice. Lunch on Sunday and dinner Friday. Twice the fun!
